Coraline 860 Outsider

Coraline’s new 860 Outsider is built to withstand the toughest W.A. conditions and do it in style. Whether it be heading to Rottnest Island for a day, or an extended trip to the Monte Bellos, the 860 Outsider will get the job done.

The 8.6m 860 Outsider is the newest addition to the Coraline range, which are locally built and have been sold by Boat City since 1998. The Coraline range features more than 30 vessels. The first 860 Outsider has just hit the water in Onslow and Boat City owner Graham Gow said the new design was a culmination of years of hull design development.

Gone are the days of spine-compressing rides on big aluminium boats, with designs such as the Outsider taking the sting out of long trips to and from fishing destinations.

“It has all the qualities you’d want in an offshore boat” Mr Gow said. “Anyone who tries it will be surprised at how well it rides on the water”. It is also nice and stable at rest, with the great big reverse chines that help increase the 20-degree deadrise it boasts”

“It is also a dry boat and will work well for W.A. boaters”. Mr Gow said the 860 Outsider could be tailored to individual preferences. For example, the first one was fitted with a diesel stern-drive 315hp Yanmar, but it could just as easily have been matched to single ot twin outboards.

Mr Gow said the 860 Outsider was ready for action the moment it left the Boat City premises. “We have aimed to make a bullet-proof boat” he said. “We don’t want something that will come back under warranty, so we build them the best we can.”

“What you get is a boat, which can be individually configured to suit your preferences, that is ready to be driven out of the yard and put straight on the water.”

With the boats built locally, Mr Gow said that the range of options for each vessel was almost limitless, and only capped by the imagination of the buyer. Trim tabs also ensured a comfortable ride, while the 860 Outsider was fully framed for strength, and came with 6mm hull plates and 4mm side plates.

It has plenty of range thanks to twin 400-litre fuel tanks underfloor, and triple batteries with an isolation switch, plus electric anchor winch.

Above the deck, the 860 Outsider comes with a number of accessories, including fridge, stove, freshwater sink and the latest Furuno electron ics, plus 27meg and VHF radios. It comes with a hard top, and the first 860 Outsider also has a fully enclosed cabin and toilet.

At the bow, the lock-up cabin offers room to sleep two in comfort, with 1.8m bunk infills, and the boat would be capable of sleeping four people easily on an overnighter or extended trip.

For the fisherman, there are four stainless steel rod holders and full length side pockets.

It comes with a five-year structural warranty and rides on an alloy Coraline aluminium tri-axle trailer with electric brakes and Catch On system to enable it to be easily driven on and off the trailer.
